Set Up

Welcome to Branded Registries!

To set up your registry, you will need to fill out the form at https://forms.gle/5LiUvu86R5fAWx1X6

The form will ask for the information described below. Once the form is submitted, COS staff will review the content and follow up if clarifications or more information are needed, particularly if you decide to create a custom template.

The form asks for the following information:

Primary Contact

The Primary Contact is the person whom Center for Open Science should contact for further setup or maintainance. The form asks for only one primary contact. If you would like to change or set up other contacts, contact support@cos.io.

Registry Name

The registry name is displayed in the top left of the registry, and is used by visitors to return back to your registry as they explore its content.

This cannot be changed once the registry is created.

Registry URL / ID

The registry ID is a short word or phrase that identifies the registry in the URL. All registries follow a osf.io/registries/{id} format. Please provide the id you would like to use. Must include letters and numbers only.

This cannot be changed once the registry is created.

Branding

Branding includes all the visual aesthetics across your registry.

Logo

The large logo is displayed at the top of the Discovery page, above the search bar, and generally what users first see to determine if they are on the correct registry.

Background

The background is used on the Registry Home page. The background can be either an image, pattern, or solid color.

We recommend using content that's darker as white text is used on top of this visual.

Descriptive or Explanatory Text

You have the option to include text underneath the search bar on your registry. Communities have used this text for several purposes including explaining what their registry is about, describing the workflows within their organization, or providing resources to name a few.

Registration Templates

Registries can be set up using existing OSF registration templates, or you may develop your own custom templates. You can find a description and link to all standard registration templates in our help guide.  You can also create a custom registration template that better sets the standards of rigor for your community. A default template must also be selected which will be displayed first.

More information on how templates are structured and how to develop a custom template are aviailable.

Licenses

Registrations require a license (ie. legal rights to one's work). OSF has a number of options that can be  included  as options to research teams. We encourage the use of CC licenses, as they encourage use and reuse of research materials. You can find a list of licenses with a brief description of the terms of each in our help guide.

You will also need to select a default license (i.e. the license that is readily displayed).
